Sunday, October 18, I attended the Diocese of Grand Rapids annual “White Mass” for physicians, caregivers and healthcare professionals. Here’s an excerpt from the blessing Bishop Walter Hurley offered: Bless their hands that they may always reach out in love, as they touch the afflicted, work to improve health and wellbeing, relieve pain, and bring comfort. Bless their intellects that they may have wisdom to select the proper treatments, find answers to vexing problems, and select the most effective approaches to care of body, mind, and spirit. Bless their hearts with zeal to carry on your work in our world where so many need hope, healing, and care. (image credit: Christ the Healer, by Mary Katsilometes, anastasisicons.com)
